Alvaiazere has quite a young leader of the council, and he is a bit of a go getter ,so I am told, and he does a lot to push the town into the Public eye.

So there are quite a few festas and social gatherings apart from the Saints celebrations, (quite a few of those as well)

The photo above is from the Festival of the Chicharo when the Market hall is full of crafts, Cheeses, Wines, antiquities and other produce to titillate the palate.

The Portuguese love a party, a clue may be in their days of the week.

Segunda feira is Monday,or a literal translation is second holiday,

Tierca feira is Tuesday or third holiday, and on it goes until Saturday, Sabado and  Sunday Domingo. So make of it what you will.
